VEHICLE TECHNICIAN (Full-Time) Permanent


Reporting to: Workshop Foreman

Working with: RTE's, Parts Team, Bodyshop Team, Workshop Controller, Service Reception.

Salary: Based on Experience


Main Job Description:

  • Carry out servicing and repairs on new and used vehicles and PDI's on new cars to the internal or external customers's satisfaction
  • Ensure work is completed on time (and within standard times) economically and efficiently thereby contributing to the achievement of departmental sales targets.
  • Efficiently diagnose standard faults and continuously improve working methods and standards.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Receives the new or used vehicle and carries out repairs or maintenance as instructed and in accordance with safety / MOT / manufacturer/ warranty requirements.
  • Diagnoses standard repairs using CLIP and referring to Dialogys for technical notes / manuals and standard times
  • Liases with the RTE or Workshop Foreman if the repair diagnosis is more complex
  • Reports current and potential faults and service requirements noticed whilst working on a vehicle to the workshop Controller or line manager, and obtains parts prices if requested to do so..
  • Ensures maximum use of technical knowledge and skills to achieve effective, economic and safe service/ repair of vehicles.
  • Safeguards and protects all vehicles during work with appropriate seat covers
  • Ensures vehicle cleanliness is maintained during repair or maintenance work

Administration

  • Ensures all hours and materials used are correctly recorded on job cards and warranty documentation, then completes the job sheet to reflect work carried out
  • Completes MOT documentation if required
  • Takes care not to cause damage to vehicle and components whilst in for repair or maintenance and cares for, and properly uses, all plant and tools belonging to the dealership
  • Minimises wastage of materials, oils and fluids
